PURPOSE: A continuously variable transmission is provided to reduce drive resistance, to simplify the constitution, to reduce the weight, to have excellent load adaptability of an output shaft, to improve energy efficiency, and to improve power efficiency. CONSTITUTION: In a continuously variable transmission, a variable-capacitance hydraulic pump(200) and a variable-capacitance hydraulic motor(300) are supported on each section of an isolation body by covers of a transmission body(100). A communicating port, a feed guide conduit, a drain guide conduit, a discharge guide conduit, and a suction guide conduit are formed to constitute a closed circuit to the isolation body. Oil rings(131,161) for preventing oil leakage are disposed to an input shaft(140) and an output shaft(150) of the transmission body, and oil is stored in the transmission body. Hydraulic pressure is variably generated to the output shaft of the hydraulic motor according to the rotational speed of the hydraulic motor and a detecting pump detects the rotational speed of the output shaft and functions as a hydraulic signal of a shifting effector of the hydraulic motor. An effector(230) of a variable-capacitance hydraulic pump(200) is operated by the feed of hydraulic pressure of a transmission controller(50). A transmission effector of a variable-capacitance hydraulic motor operates according to feed of hydraulic pressure of the transmission controller and performs shifting of the variable-capacitance hydraulic motor by the rates of hydraulic discharge of the detecting pump and drain capacity of the transmission controller. The transmission controller makes the transmission gear ratio variable by control of the hydraulic drain capacity. An accumulator(11) stores extra hydraulic pressure.
