In a playback/recording device (eg. a hard drive) receiving multiplexed digital broadcasts 10 and selecting from them a particular program, the position in the data string corresponding to a data unit which has experienced demodulation failure is recorded by a receiving side table 23. This position is communicated to a broadcasting station 25 which subsequently retransmits supplemental data 33 to the receiver 10, this supplemental data corresponding to the original specified data which was lost due to the demodulation error, thus recovering the broadcast in its entirety. |
