The cable channel (5) comprises an elongated trough-shaped component (6) with two opposing side walls (6a,6c) connected with a bottom (6b). At least one side wall (6a) at its free end has a bent-around edge forming a fixture (7) for suspending the cable channel on the outside of a longitudinal edge (3) on a cable ladder (1) in a roof. The shape of the bent-around edge is matched to the profile of the longitudinal edge of the cable ladder. On the under side (6b) of the elongated component are lock devices (8) which can insert beneath the longitudinal edge of the cable ladder to lock the cable channel to the ladder. An elongated cover (9) closes the channel trough-shaped component.
