PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a commodity sales system by a virtual department store using a virtual reality space which gives a user visual satisfaction to feel as if he/she actually visited a department store (a general retail shop and a shopping mall) and bought commodities and which increases the number of sales of the commodities. SOLUTION: A server device 11 for realizing the virtual department store consisting of a plurality of virtual stores in the virtual reality space is provided to an existent department store 10, and connected with the client devices 14 of respective stores corresponding to the virtual shop through a network 2b and with the client device 3 of a merchandise buyer through the Internet 2a. The server device is capable of accessing a merchandise display information 12c for accommodating store arrangement information 12a, a shelf arrangement information 12b, commodity display information 12c and commodity price information 12d as commodity information, forms the virtual department store in the virtual reality space by referring to commodity information and provides the commodity with the other commodities on a shelf where the commodity is displayed to a client device 31 according to commodity display information.
