PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and a method for acquiring an image, that can obtain a preferred image, where an eye line is directed in front, in a short time without lowering the quality of an image obtained by photographing. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises an imaging means for photographing a person to be photographed, a display means that displays the image photographed by the imaging means at once, a selection means that selects an optional image from the image displayed on the display means, a storage means that stores the image selected by the selection means and an image output means that outputs the image stored in the storage means.
