POLYESTER BASED FIBER AND ARTIFICIAL HAIR USING THE SAME

A polyester based fiber which is prepared by subjecting a composition obtained by melting and kneading a polyalkylene terephthalate or a copolymerized polyester containing a polyalkylene terephthalate as a primary component(A), a polyarylate (B) and a phosphite type compound (C) to a melt spinning, to form a fiber. In the above melting and kneading, the component (C) suppresses the transesterification of the components (A) and (B), which results in the formation of irreguralities on the surface of the fiber due to the presence of (B) component, leading to the occurrence of matting effect and the control of the degree of gloss in the resultant artificial hair, together with the retention of excellent heat resistance, fiber properties such as high tensile strength and elongation, and good setting characteristics which are inherent in a conventional polyester fiber; and an artificial hair using the polyester based fiber.
