PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas detector easily usable in various factories, disaster scenes, closed conduits, or manholes, dispensing with a power source or the like, capable of gas detection in a short time, and having a simple mechanism. SOLUTION: This gas detector 10 comprises (A) a cylinder part 20, (B) a piston part 30 slidable in the cylinder part 20, (C) a gas introduction hole 21 formed on the side of the cylinder part 20, (D) a gas sensor storage part 40 disposed on the rear end part of the cylinder part 20, (E) a gas sensor 50 arranged in the gas sensor storage part 40, (F) a stem 31 having one end attached to the piston part 30, penetrating a rear chamber 20B, and having the other end extending up to the gas sensor storage part 40, and (G) a biasing means 33 for biasing the piston part 30 in the tip direction of the cylinder part.
