PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slope boring machine which exhibits a sufficient driving force for squeezing a boring head into the ground without recourse to manpower, allows squeezing of the boring head into the ground with an almost constant force, and can automatically increase a tractive force thereof when it strikes hard ground during boring. SOLUTION: The slope boring machine is mounted on a mobile pedestal guided by a guide rail, and carries out boring by being reciprocatively moved by a towing means. The towing means is comprised of a shock absorber which is operative in an expanding direction, and has one end thereof connected to the mobile pedestal and the other end thereof connected to an end of a towing cord. Then, the mobile pedestal is towed by a pulling means via the shock absorber and the towing cord.
