PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set a slide lock position of a slide lock mechanism steplessly, to fix a seat for a vehicle to a desired position, to shorten lengths of a fixed rail and an upper rail, and to reduce weight. SOLUTION: A lock mechanism 41 comprises a plurality of lock holes 42 formed every a predetermined pitch in the longitudinal direction of the fixed rail 32, a gear 43 inserted and locked into the lock hole 42, and a latch 47 that fits to the gears 43 and prevents rotation of the gear 43. The latch 47 is connected to an operation lever 51, and a fitting state of the latch 47 to the gear 43 is released by operating the operation lever 51. The upper rail 33 is formed so as to have a substantially inverse U-shaped cross section working also as a leg frame. The gear 43 and a roller 61 are journalled between both tips of a sidewall of the upper rail 33 having the substantially inverse U-shaped cross section.
