PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize speed-up of autofocusing processing in an autofocus camera. SOLUTION: This autofocus camera is equipped with a search means for moving a focus lens, at specified steps from a far point side to a near point side and obtaining relation between the position of the focus lens of each step and a focus evaluated value, an operation interruption determining means for determining the interruption of the operation of the search means, by detecting that at least a focus evaluate value smaller than a 1st threshold is obtained and that the maximum value of the focus evaluated value obtained till then is smaller than a 2nd threshold, in a state where the focus lens is positioned nearer to the near point side than a 1st specified position in the course of the operation of the search means, and a focusing means for moving the focus lens to a focusing position according to the relation between the position of the focusing lens and the focus evaluated value obtained by the search means, after interrupting the operation of the search means, based on the determination result by the operation interruption determining means. |
