PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve yield of a product and ratio of metallization and to reduce consumption unit of fuel and the used amount of carbonaceous material in production of a reduced iron by using a rotary hearth furnace. SOLUTION: In a method for producing the reduced iron with the rotary hearth furnace, by which agglomerate containing iron oxide-base by-product in an iron-making process, is charged into the rotary hearth furnace, laid on the furnace hearth shifted while rotating in the furnace and applies a heating and reducing treatment to the iron oxide while rotating and shifting the furnace hearth together with heating in the furnace, and the reduced agglomerate is carried to the outside of the rotary hearth furnace, the heating temperature at the initial stage of the reduction period is set to 800-1,300 deg.C.
