PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake material which includes a coefficient of dynamic friction sufficient for indicating required braking properties and exhibits the wear resistance equal to or better than that of a C/C composite which is conventionally used even under high-temperature condition. SOLUTION: This braking material comprises s matrix consisting of the C/C composite and metal copper and has the coefficient of dynamic friction of at least >=0.01.
