PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt transmission device that can be set to the optimal belt tensions respectively in a startup of an engine and accessory drive after the startup. SOLUTION: The belt transmission device comprises a belt tension adjuster 9 capable of pressing a belt 10 to set belt tension in a plurality of stages and capable of setting the tension of the belt 10 larger in a startup of the engine 1 by a rotary electric machine than in drive of an accessory after the engine startup. The belt tension adjuster 9 comprises a tension pulley unit 8 on which the belt 10 is entrained and which is rotated by movement of the belt 10, and an automatic tensioner mechanism for pressing the tension pulley unit 8.
