PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a swing arm base material with a two-arm type support arm part for magnetic disk capable of realizing a cost reduction and a method for manufacturing the swing arm base material. SOLUTION: This swing arm base material consists of a pair of arm metal strips 12 provided integrally and perpendicularly with a bearing part 15 close to one end 13a of an arm piece part 13 and having a bearing metal hole 18 made to penetrate in the direction of a spindle, and an intervenient metal strip 22 extending a pair of support arm parts 25 for holding a moving coil at a base body part 23 and provided insertedly between the respective arm metal strips 12. Respective bearing parts 15 are provided with an inserting part 17 of a small diameter with seated height <=1/2 of the thickness of the base body part 23 given, the base body part 23 is provided with a through hole 26 through which inserting parts 17 of a small diameter are inserted, and the inserting parts 17 of a small diameter are combined by respectively fixedly inserting one inserting part 17 of a small diameter from one lateral side of the base body part 23 and the other inserting part 17 of a small diameter from the other lateral side under a prescribed arrangement relation. The respective piece parts are separately formed integrally with cold forging press working.
