An expansible bag 1 for an artificial respiration apparatus, the bag being elastically compressible in a direction transverse to its longitudinal axis for supplying an inhalant gas to a patient, comprises a central part 2 which is non-collapsible in the longitudinal axial direction of the bag, and two outer parts 3, 4 which are collapsible by a snap action into the central part to reduce the length of the bag when not in use. The outer parts preferably taper from the central part towards their outer ends. The snap action may be effected by providing the outer parts of the bag with continuous peripheral constrictions 6, 7, 8, 9, or by providing corrugations in the outer parts of the bag. |
