LCD FOR WIDE VIEWING ANGLE MODE AND DRIVING METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device for a wide viewing angle mode and a method for driving the same are provided to reduce the gray inversion at a lower part of an LCD panel by dividing pixels in predetermined areas into two unit pixels and applying a larger data voltage to one while applying a smaller data voltage to the other. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device for a wide viewing angle mode includes a gate driver part for outputting predetermined scanning signals in sequence, first and second gamma voltage generating parts for respectively outputting first and second gamma voltages, first and second data driver parts for respectively outputting first and second data voltages in response to the first and second gamma voltages, and a liquid crystal display panel for displaying predetermined images in response to the first and second data voltages on the bases of the scanning signals, wherein the LCD panel includes gate electrode lines for transmitting the scanning signals, first and second data electrode lines perpendicularly intersecting the gate electrode lines while adjacent to each other in parallel and transmitting the first and second data voltages, first and second pixel electrodes formed in predetermined areas between the gate electrode lines and the first and second data electrode lines, and first and second switching elements respectively connected to the first and second data electrode lines at first ends and the gate electrode lines at second ends and outputting the first and second data voltages to the first and second pixel electrodes via third ends by being turned on or off by the scanning signals.
