PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily manufacture a magnetic head capable of being further made narrow in its track. SOLUTION: When the magnetic head provided with a magnetoresistive element 1, permanent magnet films 2 disposed at both sides of the element and resistance-lowered electrode films 3 disposed so as to cover the permanent magnet films 2, is manufactured, the permanent magnet films 2 and resistance- lowered electrode films 3 are formed by respectively different straightly advanced sputtering methods after two-layer resist film or opposite tapered resist film is formed, then only the resistance-lowered electrode films 3 are overlapped around both end parts of the magnetoresistive element 1.
