<p>A modified ecarin protein capable of specifically activating prothrombin; and a process for producing this protein with the use of a gene modification technique which comprises: 1) the step wherein a transformant constructed by transforming a microbial or animal cell with an expression vector carrying a gene encoding ecarin integrated into the downstream of a promoter is cultured and the ecarin thus produced and accumulated in the culture medium or the transformant is collected; and 2) the step wherein the ecarin-containing solution thus collected and recovered is purified to give purified ecarin. According to this process, the modified ecarin protein can be produced on an industrial scale in practice.</p> |
