The invention concerns a pneumatic brake booster controlled by a valve (9) actuated by a plunger (8) housed in a pneumatic piston (5), said piston (5) being itself designed to apply a booster force collected by a reaction disc (13). The inventive brake booster further comprises an auxiliary pressure member (14) selectively pressing on the disc (13) and driven or not by the plunger (8), depending on the intensity of the actuating force applied thereon. The resulting brake booster provides a variable gain depending on the intensity of the actuating force, its response being particularly adapted to emergency braking situations.
