摘要 PURPOSE: A fluorescent surface for a cathode ray tube and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to prevent the separation of a metal layer deposited on a fluorescent surface being applied on the inner panel by selectively forming the metal layer on the inner-surface-edge of the panel. CONSTITUTION: A fluorescent surface(24) is formed on an inner surface of a panel(21). A metal film(25), such as an aluminum film, is deposited on an upper surface of the fluorescent surface(24). The fluorescent surface(24) includes black matrix layers(22) formed on the inner surface of the panel(21) and red, green, and blue fluorescent layers(23) applied among the black matrix layers(22). The black matrix layers(22) are comprised of non-luminescent absorbing material such as a black lead in order to prevent the degradation of color purity. The metal film(25) reflects an electronic beam scanned from an electron gun to a front of the panel(21) to increase the brightness.
