PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle capable of preventing external foreign matter from entering a diffuser even when a blower is stopped. SOLUTION: This air conditioner for a vehicle comprises an air conditioner case 101 having an intake port 111 for sucking air and diffusers 211 and 212 for blowing out air, a blower 130 sucking air from the intake port 111 through a filter 120 for removing foreign matter and blowing out the air or the air air-conditioned in the air conditioner case 101 from the diffusers 211 and 212, doors 220 and 230 for opening and closing the diffusers 211 and 212, and a controller 300 for controlling the openings of the doors 220 and 230. When the blower 130 is stopped, the doors 220 operated by the controller 300 and 230 close the diffusers 211 and 212. When an ignition switch is turned off, also the diffusers 211 and 212 are closed by an auxiliary power supply 7.
