PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcast receiver which always make a program chart used as an index congruent with recorded contents by changing the program chart simultaneously with change of a program to be broadcasted even in the case that the program has been recorded in accordance with this change. SOLUTION: When a prolongation signal is received in the middle of recording of a program, it is discriminates whether the program A has following reserved programs or not (S23). When another program is reserved following the program A, the rank is compared with that of the program A (S24), and recording continuation setting processing is performed in the case that the rank of the program A is higher (S27). In the case that the rank of the following reserved program is higher than that of the program A and recording of the following reserved program should be immediately started recording termination processing is performed (S28). In this recording termination processing, the time of the terminated program is registered in an index table(ITBL) (S31), and contents data and the grade of the terminated program are registered in the index table(ITBL) (S32).
