PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superconducting magnet device for generating a horizontal magnetic field that can be easily operated and be made compact. SOLUTION: This superconducting magnet device is provided with a double cylindrical vacuum container 10 having an air space in its central part, two pairs of superconducting coils 11a to 11d that are vertically housed in the vacuum container and generate a horizontal magnetic field, and low-temperature refrigerators to cool each superconducting coil. The two pairs of superconducting coils face each other respectively with the air space in between, and they adjacent to each other so that an arrangement angleθformed by a line segment L1 connecting the centers of the superconducting coils of one pair and a line segment L2 connecting the centers of the superconducting coils of the other pair is between 40 and 60 degrees. |
