PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device of recording to restore information to point a recorded place of substantive data of a file when a fault is generated in the information. SOLUTION: The method of recording to record data in a recording medium based on a hierarchical file system is constituted so that management information to manage hierarchical structure of the file system is recorded in a specific area SMA of the recording medium, an unused area in the specific area SMA is handled as a special file SMF, the information FE to point a place in which actual data of the file is recorded is doubly recorded in the recording medium as normal information and backup information and specific information FID to point places where the normal information and the backup information are recorded in an area which becomes vacant in the specific area SMA by reducing size of the special file SMF.
