PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a system for recording a reserved program which automatically retrieves a user's favorite program and reports the retrieval result and makes reservations for recording when necessary. SOLUTION: A video recorder 31 retrieves broadcast program information data on the basis of a preliminarily set program retrieval attribute and reports the retrieval result to a personal computer 70, a portable information terminal 71, a mobile telephone 72, or the like in a remote place through a WAN 61. The personal computer 70, the portable information terminal 71, the mobile telephone 72, or the like receives this report to return selection information of programs of which the recording may be reserved, and the recorder 31 receives it and determines a program to be reserved and makes reservations for recording of this program. Thus, the user can find his or her favorite programs though being in a remote place and can make reservation for recording when necessary.
