The fastener for attaching a grape vine to a support such as a trellis wire consists of a strip with slots molded from a thermoplastic material comprising butadiene and modified by a vegetable substance to make it more photodegradable. The vegetable substances absorb moisture on exposure to air and cause the fastener to break down after a period of time and virtually disappear in the soil.
