A method for coaxial alignment of pipes, e.g. prior to applying insulating foam between the inner and outer pipes, has an elastic sleeve fitted over the inner pipe and with radial elastic bristles to press onto the inside wall of the outer pipe. The elastic sleeve comprises a plastic spiral sleeve cut to the required length. The plastic bristles are spaced around the sleeve with between 8 and 24 per turn of the spiral. The inside of the spiral has a friction grip surface to hold the spiral in place while the insulation is applied.
