The use of sodium ion-hydrogen ion (Na<+>/H<+>) antiporter inhibitors (I) (including derivatives and/or mixtures) is claimed in the production of a medicament for inhibiting the growth and metastasis of tumors originating from genomic alterations in p53 and pRb or for the treatment and/or prophylaxis of tumor diseases originating from such genomic alterations.
