PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an apparatus and a method for processing encryption which achieve a rapid encryption process using a chain technique in units of block and great difficulty for decrypting. SOLUTION: In the encryption process using the chain technique in units of block, inputted blocks are sequentially inputted to n encryption processing means, chain relationships between block data at intervals of n blocks are created by each encryption processing means and the encryption process is implemented. Since a plurality of the encryption processing means build the chain relationships between block data at intervals of n blocks and encrypt, the encryption process for following an input bit rate can be implemented. Since chain relationships of continuous block data are not built, decryption from the encrypted data is difficult and the encryption process with a high security level can be achieved.
