Gas sensor comprises a sensor element (21) in a housing (30) and having a contact surface (22) electrically connected to a measuring site (40) of a sensor element through a line in a plane of the sensor element. The contact surface is connected to a conductor element (23) tensioned between the contact surface and a contact holder (24) with a first catch for receiving the spring element (25). An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of the above gas sensor. Preferred Features: The contact holder has a second catch, in which the spring element can lie without tension or with lower tension than in the first catch. The spring element can be moved in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the sensor element from the second catch into the first catch.
