PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating agent containing a photocatalyst, safely usable by an ordinary consumer with a simple work, free from the degradation and decomposition of the polymer component and the base material by the photocatalytic action, imparting the base material with excellent stain-proofing, deodorizing, mildew-proofing and antibacterial actions, having excellent durability and water-resistance and enabling easy removal of the coating layer after use. SOLUTION: The coating agent contains a copolymer containing a constitution segment derived from a vinyl monomer having organosiloxane group and a constitution segment derived from a vinyl monomer having hydrophilic group and an inorganic compound having photocatalytic activity. The copolymer is soluble in water and the content of silicon in the constituent elements of the copolymer is 4-16 wt.%.
