摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal display element having a preferable whiteness degree for monocolor display of a white color and another color and having high contrast and in particular, to obtain a liquid crystal display element with little dependence on the viewing angle in which superior blue/white display can be performed. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display element has a chiral nematic liquid crystal composition which selectively reflects light at specified wavelengths in visible rays at room temperature and which is held between a pair of substrates at least one of which is transparent. An alignment stabilizing film is formed on the pair of substrates, and a blue light absorbing layer is formed on the substrate opposing the display screen. The peak reflection wavelength of the selective reflection of the chiral nematic liquid crystal composition ranges from 570 nm to 600 nm. The half width of the spectral reflection waveform ranges from 95 nm to 115 nm. The peak reflection wavelength of the blue light absorbing layer ranges from 450 nm to 480 nm.
