PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of eliminating the need of a fixing separation pawl for preventing winding, yielding a high-quality image free from irregular gloss and preventing the occurrence of jamming caused by the adhesion of toner to the fixing separation pawl. SOLUTION: This fixing device is provided with a fixing roller 1 having an elastic layer, a pressure roller 2 press-contacting with the roller 1, and an external heating roller (heat supply roller) 3 supplying heat while abutting on the roller 1. In the device, the roller 3 is made to abut on the roller 1 in an elastically deformed state at the downstream position of the abutting part between the rollers 1 and 2.
