FACE MASK

A face mask, generally shown in (1) in figure (1) comprising a mask part (1a) for placing over at least the mouth of a patient with part (2a) forming a seating which comes into contact with the patient. The face mask has an inlet (2) through which air passes into the mask for delivery to the patient. Gases exhaled by the patient pass through a first outlet (3) leading to an indicator (8), which can measure parameters such as the pH of the expelled air and provide a guide to the patient's condition. The air having passed over or through the indicator is expelled from the face mask via second outlet (5). The airflow into and out of the mask is controlled by flow-control valve (4).
