The sandwich component is preferably for the production of roofs and has a core of plastic hard foam or mineral waool, together with outer and inner shells of steel plate. The outer shell (5) and/or the inner shell (6) are/is smooth, lined or micro-profiled and in the vertically formed seam area between two adjacent sandwich componetns (1) a tongued and grooved connection is provided in the core. Two adjacent sandwich components are fixed by means of a holding plate engaging over the seam and engaging on the outer shell and a screw penetrating the holding plate nad one of the sandwich components and engaging on a support construction. In the area of the screw the outer shell of the one sandwich component has a U-shaped edge formation (25) for conducting away condensate and water. The entire seam area is closed by a longitudinally running V-shaped cavity (11) and a covering held in formations (19) in the base of the cavity. The upper side of the covering forms a plane with the outside of the outer shell.
