PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device of an elevator capable of accurately detecting that the human body contacts a door without particularly requiring an antenna, a user sensor, and a humidity detector. SOLUTION: This safety device is provided with a capacitance detecting means 9 for measuring capacitance between the electrically insulated car door 1 and the ground, a storage means 10 for storing reference capacitance, a comparison operation means 11 for comparing the reference capacitance with the capacitance, a human body contact detecting means 12 for detecting contact of the human body with the car door 1 by comparing a variation in the capacitance detected by this comparison operation means 11 with a prescribed human body contact variation, and a reference reviewing means 13 for detecting a reference review by comparing the variation in the capacitance with a prescribed reference review variation.
