Clostridium toxin, and method for preparing immunogenic compositions

An isolated nucleic acid comprises the sequence shown in SEQ ID NO: 2 and has transcriptional promoter activity. The nucleic acid can comprise the promoter of the beta 2 toxin of Clostridium perfringens. An immunogenic composition comprising the toxoid of a recombinant beta 2 toxin is described. Also described are vectors that comprise the nucleic acid sequence, cells transfected with the vector and processes for producing the immunogenic compositions.
