PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high frequency heating apparatus in which wasteful electric power consumption is eliminated with a simplified construction. SOLUTION: A high frequency heating apparatus comprises switch driving means interlocking with a door 3 of a heating chamber 2, a latch switch 10 operable with the switch driving means, a control circuit 29 including a door detector circuit 34 for detecting opening and closing of the door 3, relay contacts 27, 28 for switching on and off a commercial power supply 15 and the control circuit 29, and a load circuit 60 for supplying a heat source to the heating chamber 2. The latch switch 10 is connected with the commercial power supply 15 at its common terminal, with the load circuit 60 at its normally open contact, and with the control circuit 29 at its normally close contact. A monitor switch 14 is connected with the commercial power supply 15 at its common terminal, with the control circuit 29 at its normally open contact, and with the normally open contact at its normally close contact, and further with the load circuit 60. The door detection circuit 34 is connected with the normally open contact of the latch switch in parallel to the same.
