PURPOSE: A device for controlling a capstan motor of a time lapse VCR is provided to improve recording performance by preventing rotation frequency of the capstan motor from reducing. CONSTITUTION: A device for controlling a capstan motor(10) of a time lapse VCR includes a capstan current detecting circuit(20) detecting current flowing in the capstan motor and detecting change amount between the detect current and regular current provided from a power source, a comparator(30) comparing the detected change amount with capstan frequency pulse provided from the capstan motor, a microcomputer(40) providing a compensating signal compensating level value of the capstan motor if the compared value indicates voltage drop, a capstan motor drive(50) controlling to compensate the level value of the capstan motor according to the compensating signal.
