PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin fluid bearing unit having a superior shock resistant property and start-and-stop durability, and superior productivity. SOLUTION: In a spindle motor comprising: a hub 12; a base 11 rotatably supporting the hub 12 by means of a thrust fluid bearing S and radial fluid bearing R; a thrust plate 15 installed in the base 11; a counter-plate 16 opposing to both flat surfaces of the thrust plate 15 arranged in the hub 12; the thrust fluid bearing S between both surface plates and the counter-plate 16; and the radial fluid bearing R between the outer periphery of the thrust plate 15 and the inner periphery of the hub 12, the thrust plate 15 is installed in the base 11 while a center portion of the flat surface in the back side of the thrust plate is in contact with the base. |
