METHOD OF POLYMER DECALCIFICATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing a catalyst metal from a hydrocarbon solution of a hydrogenated product of an olefinic unsaturated group- containing polymer which contains residues of a polymerization catalyst and a hydrogenation catalyst stably for long time and efficiently. SOLUTION: In the method for removing the catalyst metal from the polymer hydrogenated solution, the polymer solution is contacted and mixed with an aqueous solution containing an inorganic strong acid and organic carboxylic acid. The mixed solution is contacted and mixed with an aqueous solution of an alkali metal hydroxyl and pH of the aqueous solution is adjusted to 5.5 or more. The polymer solution is separated from the aqueous phase and recovered.
