A flexible outer material (9) to be backed up with plastic in the mold cavity extends out of the latter via a gap (10) between a die plate flash edge (11) and a tool core side flash edge (12). On the die plate side flash edge there is a clamping nose (13) to hold the material. On the flash edge, but further from the tool cavity, a protruding cutting edge (16) is provided to cut off edge material after completion of molding. An Independent claim is also included for a process for injection of plastic melt onto the rear face of an outer material in which the tool is closed for injection of melt and clamps the material around the edge with the clamping nose while the waste material beyond the nose is cut off.
