The invention concerns a method which consists in: pre-recording in a storage of an electronic portable object each set of data required for setting up an Internet connection on a site, a letter-box or a customized service; selecting with a key of the portable object a set of data among the pre-recorded sets of data; and transmitting in accordance with a contact-free transmission mode, using a push-button of the portable object, the set of pre-recorded data to a multimedia station connected to the Internet network through a mobile telephone of a cellular radio communication network or a switched telephone network. The invention is useful for accessing the Internet network in public places and in particular in public transport vehicles.
