<p>A substantially hydrogenated and/or substantially dehalogenated polyalphaolefin homo- or copolymer is obtained by a hydrogenation/dehalogenation process employing hydrogen and a substantially amorphous catalyst containing a metal component on a inorganic material based support. The substantially hydrogenated/dehalogenated polyalphaolefin homo-or copolymers provided herein are useful for manufacturing a variety of products including lubricating oils in which the polyalphaolefin functions as a viscosity modifier.</p> |
