PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for applying an image recording layer on a base which can rapidly obtain sufficiently thick coating and which has an adaptability to most image recording composition known in a field of lithographic printing. SOLUTION: The method for coating the image recording layer by a valve jet comprises the steps of applying a coating solution on the base by a valve jet printing head, and thereby obtaining a heat sensitive or photosensitive image recording layer to manufacture a printing plate precursor. A method for direct- to-plate lithographic printing comprises the steps of manufacturing the precursor by the above-described method, exposing the image recording layer as a thermal or optical image, processing the image recording layer in some cases thereby obtaining a printing master, applying an ink and/or dampening water to the master, and supplying a cleaning liquid to the lithographic base to remove the ink accepting zone from the lithographic base. |
