PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To completely close a lid while a scanner code is kept pulled out from the inner side of a case to the outer side. SOLUTION: An embroidery data preparation device is provided with a housing case 10 with an openable and closable lid body 16, a device body 12 housed in the housing case, the image scanner 14 of a flat bed type capable of being taken out and the scanner code 22 electrically connecting the device body and the image scanner. Between the housing case 10 and the lid body 16 turned to a closed state, a notched groove 30 composed of a space in the size of the thickness of the scanner code or larger is continuously formed from the inner side of the case to the outer side.
