PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device which prevents lowering of the remote control performance caused by interference of a remote control signal with a lighting circuit. SOLUTION: For the discharge lamp lighting device equipped with an inverter circuit, capable of conducting illumination control that output power to a discharge lamp is changed continuously by a remote control signal from a remote control transmitter, the operating frequency of the inverter circuit upon the illumination control is set, so as not to coincide with a prescribed range including integral times of the frequency of the remote control signal.
