PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device, obtaining high brightness by making hitting multiplied electrons hit an illuminant while multiplying the number of electrons emitted from emitted from electron emission elements. SOLUTION: This imaging device comprises an electron source, in which a plurality of electron emitting elements 103 are arranged into a matrix form, and one electrode of each electron emitting element arranged on the same row is connected to the wiring in the row direction and another electrode of each electron emission element, arranged on the same column, in connected to the wiring in the column direction, multiplying electrodes 104 which are arranged on the faces opposed to the electron sources to accelerate electrons emitted from the electron sources, based on the image signals and emit electrons whose number is more than that of the hitting electrons, depending on the hitting electrons accelerated by the acceleration, and acceleration electrodes 105 for accelerating the number of electrons multiplied by the multiplying electrodes 104 in the direction of the illuminant 106.
