Preparation of the oxime of 2,2,4,4-tetramethyl-3-pentanone comprises a catalytic reaction of the precursor ketone with hydrogen peroxide, ammonia and a zeolite catalyst, followed by acid hydrolysis to form a hydroxylamine salt.
