An assembly (10) applies a high-value particulate coating to a granular product (38) within a process chamber (13). The assembly further comprises an upwards-directed incoming jet (24) through which a high-value active ingredient is introduced (58) to the process chamber from below. The chamber floor has air inlets (19, 23) generating an upward flow of air towards the incoming active ingredient. The doughnut circulatory flow pattern is also driven by a downward inflow (59) of gas through a telescopic height-adjustable jet (52) in direct opposition to the upwards air flow (19, 23). The jet (52) cross sectional area is variable. The chamber upper section incorporates a filter block (32) to trap escaped active ingredient. The chamber further incorporates an extraction system for the removal of treated pellets.
